I am a high-school biology teacher in Asheville, North Carolina. I am not a dentist, and I am not going to pretend to be one. What I am is someone who reads studies for fun, which is a strange hobby but a useful one for you.
The reason this site exists is a question a student asked me in class a few years ago. If teeth can survive hundreds of years in a fossil, she said, why do ours rot in twenty? I did not have a good answer. That bugged me enough that I spent the next six months reading everything I could find on the oral microbiome, and I have not really stopped.
Along the way I got annoyed at how much of the oral care industry runs on fear and miracle claims. Toothpaste that promises a Hollywood smile. Supplements that promise to fix your gums overnight. Almost none of it is straight with you. So I started writing honest, tested reviews, the kind I wanted to read myself.
How I review things
I buy every product with my own money and test it for at least a month, usually two. I give low scores when a product earns them. If something is overpriced or overhyped, I say so. I am not trying to sell you anything, just tell you what actually worked and what did not.
Full transparency: some links on this site are affiliate links. If you buy through them I may earn a commission, at no extra cost to you. That never changes what I write. Read the affiliate disclosure for the details.
The hibiscus thing
I drink hibiscus iced tea all day, every day, usually through a straw. It stains teeth worse than coffee, and I refuse to quit. So a lot of what you read here about whitening comes from a very personal place.
